Pembroke Pride began in 2014, when a group of friends got together and decided Pembroke was missing something. Pembroke was missing Pride, Acceptance and a visible LGBTQ+ community. Pembroke Pride has since been dedicated to bringing all of these to our small city. In 2014, Pembroke had its first ever Pride Walk. Bright colours and members of the LGBTQ+ community took over downtown Pembroke with a short celebration. Since the first walk, Pembroke Pride has grown into a full Pride Festival. We have built up a library of resources, and have been able to bring more LGBTQ+ community resources to Pembroke, like PFLAG Renfrew County. In 2019, we hope to have a week of celebration, with guest speakers, workshops, presentations, a walk and a festival.
